NJ Speed and Agility TrainingSpeed Technique and Mechanics:

Speed training is crucial for all athletes. Champion Athletes focuses on correct running form and speed development.  It is our goal to teach athletes not only how to run but to change directions and be agile in a safe and efficient manner.

Simple changes to arm angle, knee drive and stride length can greatly impact an athletes over all speed as well as conserve energy and increase endurance.

Athletic speed can be improved in the following ways:

  • Starting Ability (acceleration)
  • Stride Length (increase after acceleration)
  • Stride Rate (frequency of steps per unit of time)
  • Speed and endurance
  • Sprint form and technique

All of these components are taken into consideration when we design our Speed and Agility programs for all sports.

Strength Training for Speed:

The Posterior Chain muscles and tendons are the most important factor in in explosiveness and speed production. Many programs leave out core strength and posterior chain strength from their Speed and Agility program. At our NJ headquarters we work with athletes from youth through high school age groups on these important areas. Through age appropriate strength training and Olympic Lifts we are able to greatly strengthen an athletes core and posterior strength which results as an increase in speed and agility.

Agility Training Technique:

Most team sports do not occur in only a straight line. These movements  also do not occur at a fixed pace or for a fixed length of time. Agility and quickness training improves an athletes ability to change direction, brake suddenly and perform sport-specific skills with speed and dexterity. Agility is the ability to rapidly change directions without the loss of speed, balance, or body control. We focus on proven agility drills and movements that will help athletes make these movements efficiently and explosively, while reducing the likelihood of injury.
